Soprano Mary Liu's operatic performances have included the leading roles of Cio‐Cio San in Madama Butterfly, Mimi in La Boheme, Liu in Turandot, as well as titleroles of Tosca, Violetta in La Traviata, Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro. She has sung with Opera fest di Roma, New York Carnegie Hall, and the Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts. the Beijing Grand Theatre National Centre forthe Performing Arts, 55th Puccini Festival Season in Torre del Lago Italy, the Manhattan Opera, New Jersey State Opera, Queens Opera, Centuries Opera, a New Year concert in Verona, and was featured in special concerts singing operatic repertoire with the La Scala Chamber Orchestra Milano, and the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino chamber Orchestra Italy, Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra of Canada just to name a few. Ms. Liu has worked with legendary artists such as Dame Joan Sutherland, Enrico De Mori, Giuseppe Acquaviva, Stefano Pagliani, MauroTrombetta, Giovanni Reggiori Franz Albanese etc .also With the Penang Orchestra of Malaysia, Mary Liu toured Malaysia and Singapore as a soloist and with the Royal Conservatory of Music Orchestra in Canada, and she has performed operatic arias and duets. In addition to being a concert performer with renowned orchestras, Mary also gave numerous recitals that appeared on television in New York, Toronto, Italy, China, Singapore, Malaysia, and throughout Southeast Asia. Ms. Liu began singing while as a student in her native Beijing, China and was selected as a solo performer with the Central National Song and Dance Company. She won a scholarship at the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music with Professor Guo Shu‐Zhen and Wang Fu‐Zong, and received coaching on Italian repertoire from Maestro Nicola Rossi Lemeni. After graduation and a successful debut recital in Hong Kong City Hall, Mary was accepted in the Artist Diploma Program at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada, where she began teaching voice. In 1993, Ms. Liu received a scholarship from the Manhattan School of Music in New York and studied with Professors Gabor Carelli and Ted Pufer until May 1995, when she received her Master's degree in music. Later that same year, Mary won first prize in the Artist International Music Competition in New York and subsequently gave her New YorkItaly the following year. Consequently, she appeared as Butterfly in Roma Opera Festival's production of Puccini's Madama Butterfly. In 1999, Ms. Liu held a concert tour in Italy and also performed at the Chopin Recital Hall in Paris. She toured ItalyBeijing, and Harbin, China. In 2002, Mary Liu gave master classes and concerts in Singapore, Malaysia, the Wuhan Conservatory of Music, and the Chang Sha Conservatory of Music. She also adjudicated in the Beijing Central Television Singing Competition and the Qing Dao International Voice Competition. She acted as an adjudicator and performed at the International Bellini Music Competition and the Maria Callas Voice Competition in Italy from 1999 to 2009. In 2005, Ms. Liu sung at the New Year concert in Verona, performed as Violetta in La Traviata in Rome, and had a solo recital in the Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts. Ms. Liu is currently the Dean and voice teacher of the Toronto School of Music Canada and continues adjudicate in international competitions as well as performs worldwide in operas, concerts, and solo recitals. In 2008 Ms Liu sang for Rai, Italian Television for a concert in honor of the Pope Benedetto XVI at the City of Vaticano, Rome. She obtained success for two big concerts in Beijing National Performing Arts centre with Milan La Scala Chamber Orchestra conducted by Stefano Pagliani and with the Maggio Fiorentino chamber Orchestra conducted by Domenico Piellini. and singing the leading roles of Cio‐Cio San in Madama Butterfly, Mimi in La Boheme, as well as title roles of Tosca, of the for the gala concerts at the 55th Puccini Festival Season in Torre del Lago Italy and also N.9 symphony by Beethoven in Toronto (Canada) next November, and will gave concert and Master class in Roma Italy December 2009, and will gave concert in China, Italy, USA etc in 2010.
